Disk recovery – The solution to hard drive failure

If your computer’s hard disk is no longer spinning because the motor that turns it has burned out or the circuit control board that runs the motor has failed, the only way to recover files stored on that disk is to send the entire hard drive component off to a disk recovery service lab. Disk data recovery of a physically broken computer hard drive will cost between 500 and 1000 dollars. But, this service is only needed if your computer’s hard disk or its control board has burned out. This situation only occurs in one out of every 1000 hard drive failures.

In almost every case, hard drive failure is based on what is known as a hard drive logic crash. This is simply a situation where the files used to open your hard drive and search through the data it contains have degraded through time and suffered memory damage. Reloading Windows replaces these files and returns you hard drive to working status. But, before you reload Windows you must use disk recovery software.

Recover files from hard drive storage

Often, people ask What is the difference in the process required to recover data from hard drives and USB flash drives? If the files and information lost have simply been deleted, then the process is virtually the same. Both situations require the use of a powerful file recovery tool. To recover hard drive data or files from flash drives using such a program, all that is usually required is to load a specially created CD/DVD with the software burned onto it into any disc drive. Once the program both starts your computer and loads onto your screen, simply select the location of the drive on which you need to recover deleted files. If the drive is your internal hard drive, a dropdown menu will offer you that choice. Similarly, removable drives will be indicated.

In a general sense, the process to recover deleted files from any type of digital storage is the same. You simply use the tool to scan the chosen drive and recover lost files from it. One difference that does come into play, when you wish to recover files from hard drives is in the situation where the files needed to load Windows and start your computer have been damaged, thus preventing you from opening any files. Because the special CD/DVD will contain its own operating system if you choose software suited to this kind of recovery procedure, this is never a problem. Whether your computer will load Windows or not, a Portable Environment data recovery tool will start your computer for you and help you recover all of your files.

FAT recovery – Restore Windows FAT system data

Despite its odd name FAT recovery is in no way related to weight loss. What it is relative to is the recovery of files that have been deleted damaged or lost from Windows File Allocation Table. These are divided storage segments of a computer that runs on Windows 98 or earlier. While very few computers in use are running Windows 98 many peripheral devices still use FAT to section and store files.

A prime example would be USB Flash drives. These are formatted in Windows FAT 32. As such when files are accidentally deleted by reformatting one must use a program for file recovery that is designed to be effective FAT recovery software. Considering that many Camera Smart cards are also formatted in FAT the demand for valid FAT recovery software is quite large. It is very doubtful you will ever need to recover hard drive files formatted using the FAT system but should you find yourself needing to do this an upper grade recovery program will handle the task.

Data recovery software using only one computer

Most data recovery software has one major flaw. It is a little secret that the companies selling these programs do not want their buyers to be aware of until after they have made their purchase. The problem or flaw is that most data recovery software must be run from a working computer that is then connected to the drive where missing files are presumed to be located by the use of cables connected to the working computer’s motherboard. This creates an immense problem, as both the working computer and the problem computer have to be taken apart before you can attempt file recovery.

The average person is unwilling or unable to do this, as they are well aware that they can easily damage their computer further. For these reasons, specialized data recovery utilities were developed. Unlike the older data recovery solution of working with extra hardware and software, these types of programs operate separately, running from your faulty computer’s CD/DVD drive. This allows you to directly access every file stored on your computer, including files that have recently been deleted.

Flash drive recovery – USB memory stick data recovery

If you have ever had a computer virus attach itself to a USB flash drive then you may be aware that this type of virus is easy to locate and pretty much impossible to remove. Flash drive viruses are designed so that when you click to delete them they are re created by an auto-run file on your computer’s registry. There is only one way to get rid of them and that is by reformatting the drive.

But if you reformat a USB flash drive you will also erase all of your files from that drive. And copying out the files may allow the virus to infect the rest of your PC. The solution for flash drive recovery is to use special type of file recovery program. You need a program that loads and runs from your computers CD/DVD drive and RAM. This means there is no direct path for files to travel into your computers hard drive and wreak havoc. Normal flash drive data recovery programs will allow infected files to move with the ones you want to save. For protected flash drive file recovery use software that isolates the problem.

Laptop data recovery – Notebook file recovery techniques

Laptop data recovery has made a tremendous change for the better with the advent of the disc based RAM operated laptop file recovery program. Traditionally laptop computers were extremely expensive to recover lost files on. This was due to the complexity involved in miniaturizing all the usual computer components so as to fit inside the smaller dimensions of a laptop. In the past with laptop data recovery, it was always necessary to send the computer off to a data recovery service lab for an expensive process. This process included dismantling the laptop and removing its hard drive.

Today there is a simple way that anyone can use for laptop file recovery. All that is required is a Windows portable environment data recovery disc and a recovery tool built onto it. Powerful tools for file recovery are then directly loaded onto your laptop by means of its CD/DVD drive. Once loaded the portable OS runs from your computer’s short term memory, (RAM) and will actually start your computer using a separate, built in Windows operating system. The laptop data recovery software runs on this special OS and from there will open your laptop computer’s hard drive. This lets you copy out any and all needed files. Once your data is safe and secure you are free to reload windows and your laptop computer is completely repaired.

Recover lost partitions on reformatted hard drives

When we are faced with a need to recover lost partitions there is only one cause for the problem. In every case we are trying to recover files lost and deleted due to reformatting. Reformatting occurs when we reload our Windows operating system before we have had an opportunity to save the files on our drive to external storage. Fortunately the process of reformatting is akin to the process of file deletion. Partitions are just large sections of a computer’s hard drive that have been set aside for separate access. Large drives are divided into partitions so that one computer can be used for very separate functions such as spreadsheet work or data compilation.

Still when we need to recover lost partitions the goal is to open that partition and retrieve from it every file. When a partition has merely been reformatted this is not to great a task. There are only a few excellent programs to recover lost partitions. However when we attempt to recover files that were deleted on a partition that has been reformatted our chances of successful partition recovery are limited. The best option in this case is to make an image file of the entire hard drive and attempt data recovery at a later date. This at least allows one to reload Windows and have the use of their computer.

Windows File Recovery – Recover Vista, XP and other Windows Files

Windows file recovery differs greatly than recovery of files on other operating systems such as Linux or Mac. Besides the fact that these other operating systems store files in differently labels sectors, Systems like the MAC OS X have a variety of “road blocks” set up on them so that stored file access must be qualified before being granted. Windows file recovery is a much more straightforward affair. All that is required is Windows file recovery software. This software specifically designed for computers running windows and no others.

Better programs will recover lost, deleted or damaged files on any version of Windows in use. These programs will retrieve missing files on any Windows version (Vista, XP, 2000, etc.) regardless of the file storage system used. This is important as many sellers of Windows file recovery software try to sell many different programs under the guise that each is unique and needed. All you need for Windows file recovery is a targeted recovery tool.

Email recovery in web and PC based email clients

Email recovery is perhaps one of the most misunderstood areas of file and information recovery. To begin with, most people assume that recovering deleted emails is utterly impossible. They base this assumption on the idea that an email from a web based email service is lost deep into cyberspace whenever it is deleted. Generally in the case of web-based email this is true.

But most business email is not web based and all of the larger web based email servers initially place deleted mail into a temporary storage folder. This is much like the Windows recycle bin. When a web-based email is deleted it usually sits in the trash bin for a period of 48 hours. This allows you to change your mind and restore the message. Non-web based email such as Outlook email is stored on your computer. To recover these messages all you need is a quality third party file recovery tool.

Unerase Software – Reverse File Deletion to Restore Data

Finally there is a program to recover deleted files that does not require cable connections and a technician computer. Prior to the development of advanced file recovery systems, unerase software had to be operated from a separate computer and connected to an affected hard drive by means of hardwired cables. This meant disassembly of both computers in order to make the connections.

Improved unerase files software has remedied all that trouble by offering unerase software that runs directly from any computer’s CD/DVD drive and RAM. This allows the user to load the program, recover their files and save them by means of any USB device. Such programs are simple and easy to use, just load the disk, launch the program and follow the completely illustrated instructions. In minutes this powerful unerase software will find and recover your files.
