Recover lost partitions on reformatted hard drives

When we are faced with a need to recover lost partitions there is only one cause for the problem. In every case we are trying to recover files lost and deleted due to reformatting. Reformatting occurs when we reload our Windows operating system before we have had an opportunity to save the files on our drive to external storage. Fortunately the process of reformatting is akin to the process of file deletion. Partitions are just large sections of a computer’s hard drive that have been set aside for separate access. Large drives are divided into partitions so that one computer can be used for very separate functions such as spreadsheet work or data compilation.

Still when we need to recover lost partitions the goal is to open that partition and retrieve from it every file. When a partition has merely been reformatted this is not to great a task. There are only a few excellent programs to recover lost partitions. However when we attempt to recover files that were deleted on a partition that has been reformatted our chances of successful partition recovery are limited. The best option in this case is to make an image file of the entire hard drive and attempt data recovery at a later date. This at least allows one to reload Windows and have the use of their computer.
